Lose Weight Eating Fast Food?
Many people think when losing weight it is an all or nothing type of routine you must follow in order for it to work. That is not the case. I am living proof of that because I made small changes to my eating habits and lifestyle and within a few weeks I could see a tremendous change in how I looked and felt. And the weight started coming off.
My journey started years ago- going from 304 pounds down to 143 pounds in less than 15 months! I was extremely overweight and had high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Was borderline type 2 diabetic and needed to do something to prevent an early death. In the quick video above, I explain: Why I did it and how I want to share the tips and tricks I used to get the weight off. As well as how I still utilize those same tips today to remain a healthy weight.
Subscribe to my channel if you haven’t already. As I will release a series of videos showing exactly how I went from frumpy to fabulous and how to get your health under control. I will share ways to understand your “body numbers” how to read food labels, as well as how to successfully eat out and not overeat. Weight loss can be a never ending battle. But with the keys I will share with you on being successful long- term, you will win the fight against the bulge.
When we make a lifestyle change for the better of our heath, it’s important for us to feel empowered with the knowledge on how to make the best eating choices at home and on the go. While losing over 160 pounds, I ate at times, and went to different types of fast food restaurants. And still lost weight. Because I learned to find the best item on the menu and still stayed within my body budget numbers. Life is going to happen during and after you reach your goal weight. Having multiple food options available to choose from will encourage you to stick to your long-term plan of eating healthier. Because you will see it’s something you can adapt to and still enjoy good tasting foods.
Fast food should not be the bulk of your diet, as it is processed foods. However, when you do need to grab something to eat on the go, here are a few options and tips to keep in mind.
HEALTHIER FAST FOOD EXAMPLES:
They offer a few options but my favorite is the Artisan Grilled Chicken Sandwich. It comes with lettuce, tomato and their herb sauce. It’s 380 calories each. (You could ask them to hold the sauce to save even more calories)
They have several options to choose from if you check out their amazing variety of salads. My favorite is the Apple Pecan Chicken Salad (half portion size) has 340 calories and the full portion is 570 calories.
3. BURGER KING
The whopper junior with just lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, ketchup, onions and hold the cheese and mayo is only 240 calories.
4. TACO BELL
Their “Fresco Style” is a pico de gallo sauce and it replaces cheese and or guacamole. You can choose a chicken or beef soft taco fresco style and it would only be 140 calories each!
They have a lot of different healthy options on their menu. The most popular is the Grilled Cool Wrap. It’s 350 calories each. (If you choose their Light Italian dressing it only adds an additional 25 extra calories to the wrap)
They have a variety of options available on their “Fresh Fit Menu”. And depending on which add on items you select or remove you can make the perfect sub of your choosing. Their Sub Club 6 inch is only 290 calories. Where people go wrong when building their sub, is by adding on excess condiments, meats or cheeses. Steer clear from mayo, or if you must, have a small amount of light mayo. And with any sub, if you hold the cheese that’s extra calories saved as well.
7. PANERA BREAD
Panera has put together a host of sandwiches and salads to choose from on their menu. Try their Asian Sesame Salad with chicken. It’s only 410 calories. During the summer they release their Chicken Poppyseed Salad and it’s only 340 calories-it comes with berries if your a fan like me, it makes the salad even more delicious.
If you prefer a fast food hot option sandwich, their Classic Roast Beef Sandwich is your go to. It’s only 360 calories. They have additional options on their Market Fresh section of the menu to choose from also.
When eating out, if you are on a Vegan or Keto diet, you can request modifications to the items you select. (example when eating at MCDONALDS, you can order the Big Mac burger and ask that instead of the meat to put two tomatoes and in place of their sauce ask for mustard)
When eating fast food, take the word combo, super-sized and double deluxe out of your vocabulary. Not ordering the French Fries, soft drink or the double burger, not only saves you money but it also saves on you not sabotaging your eating healthier. Having your water and snacks with you (fruit, granola bar, etc.) will help you to not overeat at the fast food restaurant. (If you are absolutely having a French fry craving, get a separate small order and eat a few and give the rest away-remember this is about decreasing not deleting everything from your diet)
